It took a while but my computer is up and running again despite me breaking something that can never be repaired. I'll hopefully be able to start working again...once I finish reinstalling everything.

Retrieved all my stuff and reformatted using the disk. Everything looks normal but I can't help but feel like I broke something. Will deal with it later.

Tried the Linux LiveCD idea and I'm able to locate my files which are safe. Now all that's needed is the actual moving and reformatting. And Ubuntu is really neat, I can't believe they're just giving it away.
